Jesus' Amazing First Miracle
John 2:1-2
In a little village called Cana, surrounded by beautiful green hills, there was a big, happy wedding party. Everyone was laughing, dancing, and enjoying lots of delicious food. Jesus and his friends, the disciples, were there too, having a great time with the bride and groom.
John 2:3
As the party went on, something went wrong: they ran out of wine! This was a big problem because wine was an important part of the celebration. Jesus' mom, Mary, found out and knew her son could help.
John 2:4-5
Mary told Jesus about the problem. At first, Jesus didn't seem sure, saying, "Mom, why are you asking me? My time hasn't come yet." But Mary, a woman of immense faith, knew Jesus. She told the helpers to listen to whatever Jesus said.
John 2:6-11
There were six huge stone jars nearby, filled with water for washing hands. Jesus asked the helpers to fill them all the way up. When they did, he told them to take a cup of the water to the man in charge of the party.
The helpers did what Jesus said and took the cup to the man in charge. When he tasted it, he was amazed: the water had turned into the sweetest wine ever! Everyone at the party was thrilled, and they couldn't believe the surprise. Though the guests didn't know Jesus had done this incredible miracle, his disciples did, and now they began to understand who Jesus was.
