The Call of Abraham
Genesis 11:10-26
After the great confusion at the Tower of Babel, people journeyed across the lands, each group speaking their own language, seeking a new place to call home. Among the countless families who emerged, one was destined to be part of God's extraordinary plan. This was the family of Terah, the father of Abram.
Genesis 12:1-3
One night, outside under a blanket of stars, God spoke to Abram, who would one day be known as Abraham. God had a momentous mission for him. He told Abram to leave his homeland and embark on a journey to a mysterious land that God would reveal to him. God promised Abram that he would father a great nation, receive blessings beyond measure, and become a blessing for all the families of the earth.
Genesis 12:4-9
Filled with unwavering faith, Abram said “yes” to God's call. Gathering his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, and all their possessions, they set out on a remarkable journey of faith into the unknown. Trusting in God's promise, Abram and his family traveled beneath the vast canopy of stars, traversing dry deserts, lush hills, and rugged landscapes. Day and night, they pressed on for countless miles, their hearts filled with unshakable hope.
Genesis 15:1-21
As Abram continued to follow God's guidance, the Lord established a covenant with him, vowing to give Abram and his descendants the rich and fertile land of Canaan. God also assured Abram that even in his old age, and despite Sarai's barrenness, they would have a son, and their descendants would be as numerous as the stars that glittered in the night sky.
Genesis 21:1-7
In a divine display of power, God fulfilled His promise to Abram and Sarai. Against all odds, they welcomed a son named Isaac, whose name means "laughter," because their joy was was unending when this miraculous baby was born. The birth of Isaac marked the beginning of God's promise to make Abram's kids, and his kid’s kids, and his kid’s kid’s kids a great nation. It was a promise that would shape the course of history and reveal God's unwavering faithfulness not only to Abraham, but also to you.
